Bloom Day on Muringa Rd
April 15, 2008
We don’t have a garden on the 5th floor balcony, but here are some blooms from the neighborhood. Bougainvillea is everywhere, planted as thick hedges, choking tall trees, and twining around barbed wire fences at the top of high walls. I think it’s prettiest here tumbled in with a plumbago down on the corner.
The agapanthus are dead, yes, but still special with the cool dark of the red vines next door, and little peeps of orange.
I found the meaty orange blossom on the pavement downstairs, fallen from the tall Nandi Flame tree in back our our building.
- spent bloom from the Nandi Flame tree
- the plumbago/bougainvillea hedge
- i love agapanthus, even dead.
- colorful mess
- Nandi Flame is also known as the African Tulip tree

God, I love flowers. It’s really spring here in NYC now and the magnolias are in full on, showy bloom along with daffs and even some tulips. Even the leaves are coming out. It’s lovely to see Kenya’s flowers, and I love your new masthead.
Thanks, Crafty! Kenya’s color is dazzling but I’m excited to see late Spring in Slaterville before too long, and all the forest flowers. Glad it’s finally decided to show up! :)
