Yesterday some whopper storms came through in the afternoon. They may have destroyed some seedlings and yet-to-sprout pots of seeds I misguidedly left sitting open in the sun while we left on an errand (a bad word or two were spoken), but the flowers enjoyed the soak.

so-called Blue Parrot Tulips looking mauve to me
they're not happy when it rains
now that's blue--the overwintered pansies
a dash of orange stonecrop
Allium rosenbachianum overlooking the ditch
don't forget the lilacs out the upstairs window

Maybe blue is too much to ask for in a tulip – can you imagine how weird that would be?? Like the proverbial blue rose… blech. (but no doubt, I’d buy it.) I think my favorite pic is the busted tulip – I tend to forget how gorgeous senescence can be. – Though looking out at all of the busted ones in my garden, you might think I left them on purpose.
