after bloom day, after the rain

May 17, 2009

bloom day May09-rain-3604Yesterday some whopper storms came through in the afternoon. They may have destroyed some seedlings and yet-to-sprout pots of seeds I misguidedly left sitting open in the sun while we left on an errand (a bad word or two were spoken), but the flowers enjoyed the soak.

Maybe blue is too much to ask for in a tulip – can you imagine how weird that would be?? Like the proverbial blue rose… blech. (but no doubt, I’d buy it.) I think my favorite pic is the busted tulip – I tend to forget how gorgeous senescence can be. – Though looking out at all of the busted ones in my garden, you might think I left them on purpose.
