Weather’s never too bad for beer

June 1, 2007

Sunday in the ‘Daks. Knees and feet are pretty sore, but we want to get some climbing, rather than slogging, in. The sky had other plans, and it started to rain just as we were packing up to go. So we went for diner breakfast instead–best blueberry pancakes I’ve ever had.

Jim was egging us to go on another muddy hike to a place he’s checking out for the guidebook he’s writing, but we’d had enough of mud. He took us to a beautiful swimming hole fed by a river of snowmelt, and Chris and Justin got their adventure quota in by jumping in! Then we went over to Chapel Pond to nose around in the woods. I became a little too fascinated with all the little stuff on the ground, and the rest of the crew relaxed with some Millers on the shore. Not such a bad day.
