reviews are up and it’s time to go!

It’s Friday and we’re moving of the apt today. It’s cold, the long rains have set in, the lease is up, it’s time to go. We leave Sunday for the coast. Of course the house Internet has been down for days, so no one’s heard from me. We’re hoping to get set up somewhere in Dar es Salaam by Tuesday. Let’s hope it’s a Haven of Peace, indeed.

Meanwhile, some book reviews (finally!) over on the Reviews page.

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
When presented with a work so hailed as this one, with its millions of copies printed in 50 different languages, its place in school curriculums, its miles of praise, a reader should think a while before trying to say anything about it. I waited even longer, being so unmoved by it I couldn’t think of much worth saying. (read the whole deal)

One for North of South coming soon. Only half-way through No Picnic on Mt. Kenya and have to give Sam’s book back tonight!
