a changing concept of autumn

November 17, 2008

how it is

how it used to be (still is, if you’re there)

Now, don’t be alarmed. I’m not complaining. Just watching. In awe. And adjusting.

True true. All true. But during the summer, while you are enjoying Ithaca’s lush landscape, thunderstorms and fireflys… its a 110 degree convection oven with frequent ozone alerts.

It’s a toss-up, isn’t it? October to May in the Mohave is heavenly, with sun. But 110 is AVerage, not high, in July…
I heard a phrase ascribed to Maine but fits the Finger Lakes well: “If you can’t stand the winters, you don’t deserve the summers.” My tedious attention to the thermostat will subside eventually, although, thinking about how humans love talking about the weather, it might be a few year. Today was sunny with a pretty little snow–that, I could get used to :)
    Thanks for stopping by.
