Sympathy for the Pooker

Our not-so-Lucky Buddy had some surgery last Thursday to remove his infected dew claw, as I mentioned was bugging him. He’s not that happy about this recent phase of recovery: the giant-stitch-ripping-out-prevention collar.

For four days he’s hobbled around gamely on 3 legs with just his green starry bandage. We’ve been spraying “Bitter Yuck” rosemary-based stuff on it to keep him from licking, but the stuff gets in the air, on your skin, in your nostrils, inevitably in your mouth, so we’ve all been suffering together.

Now the bandage is off, the collar’s on, and he’s just bummed. When Bud’s a teenager he’s going to tell stories about how the 5 Days of Elizabethan Collar scarred him for life. Stitches come out Monday.

Oh poor precious Buddy! I am sure he will be well soon. As a teenager, surely he will also remember that you took great care of him when he was sick. Doggies with the cone always look so sad and unhappy, but it will be over soon. :) He’s totally adorable.

Lucky Buddy Jake will be back in full swing soon. When Buck had to wear his following his surgery, you could tell his maneuvering skills were tested. When we finally removed it, it looked like it had been through a battle zone.

Too bad there’s no way to communicate effectively that this was for his own good. I hate to see the little guys suffer like this!

    Hey Lynn,

How is buddy doing? Did he get his bandages off yet? Is he still wearing the dreaded collar?
