ACNARGS member garden tour preview

June 1, 2009

Sunday was the ACNARGS member garden tour. I saw three of the four we were invited to: David Mitchell’s urban garden in downtown Ithaca, Nariman Mistry’s suburban garden on Ellis Hollow Road, and Susanne Lipari’s country garden in Alpine. I missed Deb Lapman’s commercial enterprise, Bedlam Gardens, in King Ferry, but will make a trip to see her soon.
All three are gardens to aspire to and be inspired by. It was a great time chatting with the passionate, knowledgeable owners, & I took a lot of photos. Here is a preview until I can organize them. Hope you had a great day in your garden!

Oh, to be a cat in any of these gardens…

to be a cat in any of these gardens… now you know why our kitty (guess which one…) would always run away to “the englishman’s garden” just down the street from us… it too is an acnargs garden, but i don’t think the owner is english… scottish, perhaps. mr. bell, our kitty thanks you and misses it so!

It’s good to have secret gardens about to hide away in some afternoons, even when you’re not feline and good at hiding.

I agree, I love the shaggy look of these garden scenes, I admire well-groomed gardens, even get ideas from them, but I never feel quite comfortable. Looks as though you were all having fun.

Is there any chance you could ID the plant behind and to the right of the hosta in the shed pic? Just curious. Thanks!
