Q. the bees

Sometimes an idea gets a hold of you. In this case, it’s a totem, and not one I’m entirely comfy with. But bees have been on my mind more and more since getting to know a local bee keeper and bringing home honey I helped spin, and especially since discovering Trumansburg artist Q. Cassetti’s bee illustrations. Mezzzmerizing.

Check out her portfolio site and her blog. There’s always activity around this hive.

love the hive-inspired artwork (especially the last one), but i love the honey more… how many pounds did you spin off this year? makes me want to find a bee keeping community here in b/cs tx.

Barb got 155 lbs of fall honey this go-round, but I had to miss that day. I saw her yesterday to buy some seed garlic (that I promise to keep marked) and some of the fall nectar. soooooo delicious. We missed you. She sends hugs.

Yum! I love honey. How wonderful that you got to see it first hand.
