As a rule I find bee-on-flower photos stunningly boring, but these bees are DRUNK!
We counted at least 14 bumbles quaffing on the sea holly. Who knows what it tastes like to them, but in the evening light, with the buzzing and the deep blue, I couldn’t resist. Click for bigger.
Morning after update: 5 hungover bumbles passed out on our flowers.

Reminds me of some of the out-of-control parties down at the beach last weekend, though I think the beverages of choice didn’t involve sea holly nectar… This would be fun in video.
